Welcome to the frequently asked questions for public voting on the ODTUG Kscope content selection!
When can I sign up?
Now! Public voting sign-ups will remain open until Monday, December 2, 2019.
Who are the ideal candidates for the public voting process?
We are looking for folks who are familiar with the ODTUG Kscope conference, have attended a past conference, and have intermediate to expert knowledge on one of the ODTUG Kscope20 tracks. We’re especially interested if you’ve spoken in your preferred track before or have joined a past Oracle conference content selection team. Space is limited on each track team and only one person per company per track will be allowed, so please strategize with your company if you’d like to participate. You must have attended a past ODTUG Kscope to sign up.
In addition, submitting this form does not guarantee your participation in public voting. The conference committee will be selecting individuals from the sign-up list and contacting you directly if you are chosen to participate.
How will the public voting process work?
ODTUG Kscope20 abstract submission closes on Thursday, December 5, 2019. Starting on Friday, December 13, public voting teams will have about three and a half weeks to vote on all the abstracts within their assigned track. Public votes will then be averaged; these averages will be taken into consideration during the final abstract selection process.
As mentioned above, spots are limited for each track. Only one person per company will be allowed per track.
How much time does public voting require?
On the higher end, a single track can receive up to 150–200 abstracts. Therefore, if you estimate one to two minutes per abstract, you can assume five to seven hours split over three and a half weeks for these larger tracks. In addition, we will ask you to attend at least one training session on how to use our APEX content selection app leading up to the formal public vote!
Am I guaranteed a spot if I’m first?
No, but thank you for your enthusiasm!
Why do I need to select two track preferences?
As space is limited, we have a fixed number of spots on each track. Therefore, we’re asking each person to select two tracks (if you have knowledge in more than one area), so you can maximize your chance of joining our public voting team!
What if I’m only knowledgeable on one track?
No problem! Select “N/A” for the second track.
I’m not an expert, am I qualified to vote?
We are looking for folks with intermediate to expert level knowledge in their selected tracks. Therefore, you don’t have to be an “expert” (what’s an expert anyway?), but you do have to have firsthand experience in your technology area. A good guideline is a minimum three to five years of experience with both primary and secondary technologies in that space.
Can I vote if I submitted a session?
Absolutely! We just ask that you not vote on your own abstract(s) if you’re selected for the same track.
When will I hear back if I’ve made it on a public voting track?
Early December. We are also expecting to have training on the voting app in early December.
